How we came to be:
After working in the fashion industry for over 17 years, the tug in my heart to make a difference in the lives of children grew too strong to ignore.
Working full time, traveling internationally for business, married with five kids, my hands were full. Yet the urging to take care of abandoned, orphaned and abused children continued to increase. To care for unwanted, unloved and unprotected kids had always been a desire of my heart.

It started with my father. He was an orphan from 7 years old to 18 years of age. I saw the struggles he faced even as an adult resulting from never having anyone truly love him as he grew up in the orphanage. Once he pointed to me the old orphanage building called Bonny Town. It never left me.
About 12 years ago, I volunteered with the local Orphanage Christine Revell. It is where we met and later adopted our youngest daughter. The children I served at the Revell facility further solidified my desire to help hurting children. In 2015, I resigned my management position and in 2016 Dion and I launched Hannah’s Place of Safety.

OUR COMMITMENT
Children are placed in Hannah’s Place of Safety via the Department of Social Development. Our commitment to each child is to:

Welcome each child with love and treat them as a member of our family.

Provide medical, dental and emotional support to help them heal physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Ensure our home is warm and open such that each child feels safe and secure in our care.

Spend quality time with each child helping them to learn to trust in adults and restore their confidence that they can ‘just being a child’.

Work diligently to prepare the child for their “forever” home.
Hannah's through the years
HANNAH'S STORY
Hannah was abandoned at birth. She was found under a motor bridge and placed at Christine Revell children's home, where Janine Fabe was a volunteer. She had not even been given a name and was only temporarily placed at the children's home until another facility was available for her. The children's home was having an outing and Hannah was too young to go. Janine took Hannah home for the weekend as she was also a screened host parent for Christine Revell at the time. Every member of the Fabe family promptly fell in love with her. They knew she was the perfect fit for their family. They swiftly made inquiry about the procedures to foster and adopt her. After two years of fostering Hannah, the Fabes adopted her and into their “forever” family.
Hannah is a intelligent, fun loving, well adjusted young lady. She has a kind heart and soft nature. She really is a little bookworm as she loves to read. She is very active with the kids placed in Hannah’s Place of Safety. Her heart’s desire is for every child to have the same story of love and victory as she does.
